28th Week:
It was 17 year old Keith Lee’s trial at the juvenile court today. All was sedate when the judge spoke of Keith’s penalties. He began to think back and regretted on his reckless act of theft. He had an avarice and was materialistic. Despite his parents giving him the best, he was insatiable, he then turned to becoming a thief one fateful day. Though everyone around persuaded him out of it and were disgruntled by his act of dishonesty, he committed theft over and over again, till he ended up in court. The judge gave him a jail sentence of six months and Keith’s mother who witnessed the trial almost broke down, she was really disappointed in her most beloved son. However, all was calmed when Mrs Lee managed to gain equanimity. Keith promised his mother to turn over a new leaf and never to let her or his father down once more.
27th Week:
Retrospect on what took place decades ago, when I was still an ardent young man, I felt proud of myself. Definitely, the country was proud of me too. I remembered that exultation which overwhelmed me when I culminated of the world’s highest mountain – Mt. Everest. After all these years of training, my efforts paid off. It really felt great to be at its pinnacle and to achieve what I had always wanted to. Upon realizing my dream, I captured that moment of satisfaction and told myself not to wipe this out of my mind ever. I want to remind myself that truly, practice makes perfect and with determination, impossible is nothing.

26th Week:
Often, mistakes are inevitable, whether they are remiss or otherwise. During tussles like examinations, the situation becomes worse. Thus, to avoid mistakes which are not made due to carelessness, we should equip ourselves with complete knowledge well beforehand. That way, by being attentive in class and doing revisions at an appropriate pace, we would also not be rebuked by our parents or people around who cares. Though sometimes, we may be lethargic and just cannot seem to motivate ourselves to study, we will still have to do it for we know that knowledge gained from lessons and revisions will not just be superficial but will be instilled in us on a long term and can be well applied for future use as we made sure we clearly understood before moving on. This clearly reduces the amount of mistakes we would make during tests.
25th Week:
Senile old man, Mr Goh has been abandoned by his children and lived in this old folks’ home for decades. Doddering, he often had to move in his ward by himself. Sometimes, he even slipped or lost balance and fell. Whenever relatives and friends of the other old folks came to visit, they would be congenial of Old Man Goh’s plight. Feeling deplorable for Mr Goh, they may share with him some stories they know and they never failed to make his day. He was easily contented and although he felt puny, he never thought of giving up on life, as he believed that one day, his dearest children will coming running into his arms and calling him, “Dad”, lovingly again.
24th Week:
Danna Lim was the new executive director of this renowned media company. During the first meeting she organized, everyone already had a bad impression of her. She displayed the characteristics of a bigot and made her ideas inviolable. She prohibited certain traditions which had always been practiced by the employees and made their lives difficult as well. Everybody was tolerant towards her, however, since she was their “head”. Everything looked considerably fine until someone voiced out an opposing opinion to her. She blew her top. Then, instead of things going for the better, more and more conflicts originated. People who thought her actions were absurd left that company, that company then carried a blemished reputation under her management and continued deteriorating.

Uncle Ben’s mortality really affected his dearest nephew, Joshua. It’s been a decade; however, Joshua still could not get over his death. Ever since that car accident which took his most beloved Uncle Ben away ten years ago, Joshua would be maladjusted by scenes of road accidents. Sometimes, he might even become neurotic after that, as those images reminded him of his uncle, stirring up all the negative feelings in him and causing inordinate agitation. His aunt was utterly worried and thought it would be catastrophic if Joshua could never walk out of the shadow of his Uncle Ben’s death. After bringing him to the counselors, there seemed to be a positive change towards Joshua’s mental health and he began to accept his uncle’s death. Gradually, he overcame that sadness and led a more cheerful life.
22nd Week:
From outside Pete’s room, he heard exchanges of abusive language again. He often wondered if his family was really considered one. He felt it was an incapacitated one, one which suffered from indifference and incompatibility. Sad but true, he had to acknowledge that he felt no potential expressions of love or care coming from these people living under the same roof as him all his life. Envious of all the happy families he has had encounters with, he frequently thought how chimerical it would be to have a family like theirs. One which he could feel love, which cherishes him for who he is, genuinely cares and definitely one which he would never take for granted.
21st Week:
Old Mr Souz has been living a life of destitution ever since he was left neglected by his one and only son. However, despite being was emaciated from malnutrition and looking sick all the time, Mr Souz had a heart of gold. He was helpful towards everyone in the village. Also, he never failed to shower love and care upon the other neglected people around. Then one day, he made a sincere supplication to the angels above, obsequious to have everyone lead a better life so that there will not be poverty and despair again. That night, he had a dream. It took place in a beautiful place, a nirvana, where angels roamed and all was joyful. An angel then came to him and told him that he had been a bona fide, passionate old man and that what he had wished was granted. When he awakened from his sleep, there was a metamorphosis in the village. Everyone carried a smile on their faces, their little businesses prospered, crops yielded, everything just turned for the better. Surely, kindness begets kindness.

June holidays week four:
Stepping into the odd-looking “control center”, I stood rooted in awe as I looked at the panels of flashing lights and handles. I went up to it, and pulled the biggest and most outstanding handle. Immediately, the door slided and locked in position, and I fell as the sudden surge of gravity pulled me down. I had the ascending feeling, but could not confirm anything.
Not long later, most things around me that was not fastened to the ground, including me of course, were floating. Apparently, I was not in a place anyone on earth could have gone. Pushing aside my doubts and fears, I went to the panels.
Looking at every single thing there, I pushed one of the buttons, and the door slid open. From what I saw outside, I could not decide if I was lucky in hitting the correct button or unlucky in ending up in the wrong place. It took me quite awhile before I dared to step up to the door and went out.
The never-ending light I saw made me regret it when I thought I was lucky in hitting the right button. What I deem as aliens seems to be gesturing to me, to walk down the winding, long path.
June holidays week three:
I went up to Miss Karoline and stuck out my hand stiffly. She just gave me the usual blank look and handed the slip to me. “Off to the office please, Mister Yeo.” THERE! It was so expected!
Walking down the wooden floor of the corridor and stopping in front of the door labeling “Mr Woodpecker”, I knocked with trembling hands and went in. The principal’s secretary, like always, gave the flashing grin and directed me to the principal’s desk, and told me to wait awhile before he comes back. I sat down and looked around, seeing the usuals.
He stepped in, though I practically thought he hopped in, and showed me a menacing smirk. “I can’t be bothered to talk to you today, just report to detention class later.” I had the urge to just throw the silver vase at him, but stopped myself in time, luckily.
Stepping out of the office, I saw someone sinister walking towards me, The Discipline Master! I had the feeling of everything in my life being gone then…
June holidays week two:
Digging her sneakers into the muddy earth, she sat rooted to the benches by the pitch, and watched on as brother slammed the ball behind the line, and the silently staring crowd turned into a mass of jumping red and yellow colours, with lots of screaming and shouting voices cheering.
Jeanny took awhile to register what just happened, and whatever held her to the bench suddenly seemed to disappear and she too, jumped up and ran into the pitch, throwing herself at brother as he caught her in an embrace. They won. With such a close gap in between the scores; 13-14, and with her idol scoring the deciding point at the last second. A grin spread across his face, and the reassuring voice said: “Dinner’s on you!” She just smiled knowingly, and led him out, with a proud look on her and an innocent smile on him.
June holidays week one:
He scurried out into the blinding sunlight from the darkness of the first floor attic. When he finally regained his sight, what he saw were things totally different from when he entered.
The bare trees were now producing fruits, and the "haunted house" opposite the street is now gone, and in its place was a busy shopping center full of people going in and out. The initially empty street was now bustling with people in all sorts of attire; from suits with shining, polished shoes to just plain shirts and jeans with sneakers.
"Exactly how much time had passed since i entered?" he wondered silently. All he could remember was just opening the dusty and creaky tomb before something shiny flashed pass the side of his lower body and something pierced his leg, and everything seemed a blur...
